Yumi Wilson

Lecturer

Yumi Wilson is a writing professor at SF State University and lecturer at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. She has worked as a reporter and editor at the Associated Press in Los Angeles and San Francisco Chronicle. In 2001, she was the recipient of the Fulbright grant and a Knight-Wallace journalism fellow a year earlier in 2000. In 2013, she was chosen as one of the 12 smartest women of color on Twitter. From 2012 to 2015, she worked for LinkedIn, helping journalists and communicators learn how to establish themselves as experts in their field. Her most recent book, “The Social Media Journalist Handbook,” was published in fall 2019. Wilson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from USC in 1990 and an MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of San Francisco in 2007.
