Yasmin Rafiei is a Reporter-in-Residence at the Investigative Reporting Program. Her journalism focuses on healthcare and social welfare reform. Rafiei’s latest investigation, on private equity-owned nursing homes, was published in The New Yorker. She has also been published in The Guardian, Foreign Policy, The Globe & Mail and The New England Journal of Medicine, among others. She has been an Ida B. Wells Fellow, and an Ida Tarbell Fellow. Her work is informed by experience in health policy. Rafiei has worked as an advisor to Canada’s COVID Task Force and an analyst at Chatham House, a global affairs think tank. Before investigative journalism, she sojourned as an MD candidate at Stanford, and completed graduate studies in politics, philosophy, and economics at Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. Currently, she’s at work on a domestic violence investigation for The New Yorker.
