Vanessa Flores is a writer and reporter covering extremism. 

Vanessa is a recent 2020 graduate from Humboldt State University where she earned a BA in Journalism. She was a staff member of El Leñador, the English and Spanish student newspaper at Humboldt State University.  El Leñador is the only newspaper with Spanish content in Humboldt County — a predominantly rural, white community in Northern California. There she worked as a reporter, translator, and editor in chief.

In addition to her work with El Leñador,  she also produced a weekly Spanish radio show on the student radio station, KRFH Radio Free Humboldt 105.1 FM, where she covered local, national and international news briefs, as well as music.

At UC Berkeley, Vanessa plans to study documentary filmmaking and visual journalism.
