Class of 2025

She is a Ugandan Journalist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communication from Makerere University, class of 2021.  Awarded a Mastercard Foundation Scholarship to pursue a Master’s Degree in Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley, to graduate in 2025! Her mantra is Journalism has the power to ignite social change and advocate for inclusion of the most marginalized all over the world. While at Berkeley Journalism School, she is Local News Reporter, covering local business, inequality and Education for Richmond Confidential and Oakland North which are the school’s online news platform.  Marion is co-founder and CEO of Debunk Media Initiative, Uganda’s first fact-checking media entity countering misinformation to help youths  access accurate information in real-time to make informed decisions. She is also the founder of Girls Alive Uganda, a non-profit organization teaching  vulnerable girls in rural communities menstrual hygiene and pad-making skills to address the high rate of menstrual-related school absenteeism.
