Luis Hernandez is a visual journalist from the projects of Red Hook, Brooklyn. Currently, he is a police reporter for Mission Local, a community based publication in San Francisco.

Winning a screenwriting contest in his junior year of high school allowed him to turn his screenplay, “The Tale of Timmy Two Chins” into a short film which premiered on Showtime, HBO, and several film festivals, including the LA Shorts Fest.

During his time at USC, Luis developed interests in journalism and documentary filmmaking. He served as Executive Producer for the Trojan Vision health and wellness show: Balance, where he developed several segments showcasing the health and wellness community in Los Angeles.

Hernandez hopes to cover stories on health, wellness and masculinity. He also hopes one day to create a video project about his neighborhood in Brooklyn.

For fun, Hernandez enjoys salsa dancing, watching reality television and cooking food he see’s on Food Network.
