I’m a community health reporter at KQED Public Radio in San Francisco. I’ve also worked with Reply All, Here & Now, the Investigative Reporting Program, KALW, The Kitchen Sisters and Ben Manilla Productions. Before getting hooked on audio, I worked in education, leading groups of high school and college youth to places like Bangladesh, Peru and Guatemala. One of my favorite jobs was teaching on the Thai-Burmese border, where I worked with immigrants and refugees.

I won the 2016 North Gate Award for Excellence in Audio Reporting and Production and the Gobind Behari Lal Award for Excellence in Reporting on a Science or Health Story for a radio documentary about adults with imaginary friends. I’m a UC Berkeley Human Rights Fellow, and a former Coro and AJWS World Partners Fellow. I have a master’s in journalism from U.C. Berkeley, a master’s in education from Harvard, and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern.
