Jennifer Cortez

Class of 2020

I’m a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in multimedia at UC Berkeley’s School of Journalism.

I am often drawn to stories that highlight hope and beauty in the most difficult situations: stories about resilience and courage and the way people respond to adversity with creativity and resourcefulness.

I’m presently a reporting fellow at the University of British Columbia’s Global Reporting Program, where I’m collaborating on an audio piece on global education.

My most recent work can be found on Mission Local, a hyperlocal online publication dedicated to serving San Francisco’s Mission District.

Prior to graduate school, I was a high school English and journalism teacher in the Coachella Valley.
