Derek Lartaud comes to the journalism school from a science-heavy background, where he hopes to marry his appetite for storytelling with his passion for health sciences research. As a researcher, Derek studied auditory hallucinations in schizophrenic patients and insulin resistance in adolescents with diabetes. As a journalist, he was a producer for Connecticut Public Radio where he helped create health-themed programming. As a dual-degree student in the schools of journalism and public health, Derek hopes to shine a light on important health issues that are all too often under reported or misrepresented by the general media.
