Celeste Lavin (she/they) is a two-time Emmy-winning news producer with more than a decade of journalism experience. Now a Bay Area-based homepage editor at The New York Times, Celeste has also written, edited and produced for HuffPost, Getty Images and The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC. As a queer and gender non-conforming journalist, Celeste has pushed for more just coverage of underrepresented communities in each of these newsrooms. Celeste is honored to be teaching about transgender stories at Berkeley Journalism, particularly in this moment when deliberate and humanizing coverage of trans people is increasingly crucial.
