Cara Nixon

Cara Nixon is a human rights-focused journalist with interests in issues primarily affecting low-income communities. She was born and raised in the Willamette Valley, Oregon and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in political science and applied journalism from Oregon State University before coming to Berkeley.

    Contributed over 200 articles on mainly human rights topics and helped lead team of writers as Assistant Editor.

  • The Daily Barometer
    Contributed 50 articles on mainly social justice-related issues and acted as City Editor for the 2021-2022 school year.

  • The Washington Post
    Collaborated with Associate Professor Chris Stout on a research article concerning the effects of campaign visits on elections.
