Berkeley Cannestra
B. Sakura Cannestra (she/they) is a first year master’s student who plans on taking either the Multimedia, Narrative Writing or Investigative Reporting track. She also attended UC Berkeley for her bachelor’s degree in English and formerly wrote for the Daily Californian, covering a broad range of topics including student government, Berkeley’s unhoused population and the COVID-19 pandemic. In her senior year, she was the paper’s managing editor and spearheaded the COVID-19 breaking news effort. They’re passionate about how policies impact our daily lives, especially in regards to housing and technology, as well as how to use different platforms for journalism, such as Youtube or various social medias. She is also an amateur plant dad and an avid bullet-journaler, with a strong opinion about gel pens.
