Abby Baird is a proud Midwesterner, born and bred in Chicago, IL. Her life follows an arc of re-imagined identities as she has adapted to the changing circumstances of her career and health, diagnosed with P.O.T.S at age 13. Never learning the meaning of ‘can’t,’ Abby graduated from Harvard University in 2008, having studied medieval history and the history of science. Continually writing for The Harvard Crimson about the much under-appreciated sports scene, she found journalism. Abby’s sports journalism experience landed her a job with Chicago 2016, the bid to bring the 2016 summer Olympic games to Chicago. Abby was responsible for capturing Chicago’s Olympic spirit and putting it into words. She covered international competitions, but also Chicago’s athletic outreach to inner city kids. Abby is a general assignment reporter, but will always love sports and is currently a freelance features writer for ESPN.
