Tibetan Lamas in the 21st Century

February 6, 2013

Instructor Tim McGirk, from the Investigative Reporting Program, reported on the difficulties that Tibetan lamas face when they leave the monastery and encounter all the temptations and complexities of 21st century life in the West. In The Believer’s February issue, McGirk followed the story of the reincarnation of a famous Tibetan lama who dis-robed to marry a Bollywood starlet. You can hear McGirk’s interview about these Tibetan lamas on NPR’s “All Things Considered” on February 10.
