IRP Wins 2011 Investigative Reporters and Editors’ Award

June 8, 2012

The Investigative Reporting Program at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism won a
2011 award from the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) for its role
in creating the PBS Frontline documentary “Post Morten: Death Investigation
in America”. Working in collaboration with ProPublica, NPR and PBS
Frontline, the IRP helped report and shoot the hour-long documentary, which
won the “Multiplatform-Large” category. As the judges commented: “Through
this revealing multimedia package, we learned death investigations are
often flawed and innocent people go to jail or the guilty are allowed to go
free.”
