DigiTV on NYTimes

This story was reported and produced in China by Christy Khoshaba. She was trained in the “Digital TV and the World” special project taught by Todd Carrel and Christopher Beaver, and the “Reporting on China” class taught by Lu Chen, a television producer based in Beijing.

Khoshaba’s is the first in a series of reports from Kunming for The New York Times, NPR, the PBS NewsHour and The Washington Post. According to veteran foreign correspondent and project director Carrel, the digital journalists travel the world to “find interesting stories that help reveal the fabric of a community.” The series began in 2002 with stories about ordinary people “Ó from a fishing village near Nagasaki, to the rainforests of Peru, to the streets of Phnom Penh. The Spring 2013 class, designed primarily for first-year students, will report from Southeast Asia.
