J200 Reporting the News – Environment

J-200: Environment & Health

In this course, we will focus on journalism basics through the prism of reporting on the environment, health, and the disruptive factor that overlays them all, climate change. These topics are  multi-disciplinary, intersecting with the realms of science, politics, business, the law, technology, and culture, all playing out on fundamental matters of equity. We’ll start with local stories and move steadily outward—to the regional, state, national and international dimensions as appropriate.  We’ll mix sharpening your journalistic technique with deepening your knowledge of environmental themes, and how to tell your stories,  in whatever the medium, in compelling ways.
