Three students to represent the J-School at Young Journalists Program in Germany

September 19, 2014

Alexandra Garreton (’15), Yolanda Martinez (’15) and Mark Kurlyandchik (’15), have been selected by a faculty committee and application process to represent the school. The trip, which will take place during the first two weeks of November, will aim to foster transatlantic dialogue in the field of journalism.

“I’m really excited to go to Germany,” said Garreton. “I feel it’s a great opportunity to talk with other young reporters about what it’s like to cover international politics in another country.”

Each fall for the last five years, the German government has invited two or three UC Berkeley Graduate students on an all-expenses-paid trip to Germany to learn more about their media, institutions and culture. This year our students will will visit Berlin, Hamburg and Wolfburg. The program also includes scholarships to students at Howard University; California State University, Fullerton; University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Please join us in congratulating Alex, Yoli and Mark.
