Haydee Barahona
Haydee Barahona is a journalist and first-year student at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. She has experience covering K-12 and higher education in California.
Raised in the Central Valley, Barahona earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from California State University, Bakersfield. She served as the editor-in-chief at The Runner, the university’s student-led newspaper. At The Runner, she co-founded El Veloz, an initiative to transform The Runner into a bilingual Spanish-English print publication.
Previously, Barahona was a 2023-24 CalMatters College Journalism Network fellow. She has been recognized for her leadership by CSU Bakersfield, and for her reporting and photography by the California College Media Association.
