City of Smoke: Air Pollution in the Land of the Eternal Blue Sky
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia is the world’s coldest capital, and one of the most polluted cities on earth during the winter. Peter Bittner (’17) explores the public health crisis, its causes, surrounding controversy, and future outlook. While temperatures dipped to below -35 C, Peter filmed and carried out on-camera interviews, and shot audio, video, and photos using a Tascam recorder, a Canon 7D DSLR, a DJI Phantom 4 drone, and his iPhone 7Plus. He also conducted all 3D Matterport and Ricoh Theta 360 scans.
The multimedia project is divided into a three-part web package which includes videos, text, photo galleries, 3D tours, and more. The viewer has the option of viewing all the videos as one short documentary.
