The Lemon Tree with Author Sandy Tolan

Please join Sandy Tolan and Cynthia Gorney of the Graduate School of Journalism in conversation about Tolan’s book, The Lemon Tree: An Arab, A Jew, and the Heart of the Middle East. The Lemon Tree explores the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the experiences of two families and one stone house.

Thursday, May 4, 7 p.m., Cody’s Fourth Street store, 1730 Fourth Street, Berkeley. Refreshments will be served.

Early reviews for The Lemon Tree:

“Moving, well-crafted…readers will experience one of the world’s most stubborn conflicts firsthand.” (Publisher’s Weekly)

“This wonderful human story vividly depicts the depths of attachment to contested ground…” (Library Journal)

“A much-needed antidote to the cynicism of realpolitik…Allows readers to see the courage of families sincerely trying to understand their enemy…remarkable sensitivity to both families’ grievances…” (Booklist)

“Sensitively told, eminently fair-minded…Humane and literate-and rather daring in suggesting that the future of the Middle East need not be violent.” (Kirkus Reviews)
