Jason Spingarn-Koff will be joining The New York Times as their first-ever video journalist in Opinion.
Congratulations Jason!
Jason recently completed a Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied the intersection of science, technology, new media and society. He spent the past few years directing and producing Life 2.0, a feature-length documentary about the virtual world Second Life. The film was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival last year and has been acquired by OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
As a freelancer, he has produced and directed documentaries and video segments for Time.com, MSNBC, PBS and WGBH, and Frontline, among other organizations and programs. He graduated from Brown and received a
masters in journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. (His masters thesis, Robofly, about the quest to build the world’s first robotic fly, aired on PBS and won a student Emmy.)
