Linsay Rousseau
Linsay Rousseau (2010) is a Los Angeles–based actor, writer, producer, and activist whose career has been shaped by a single conviction: that the stories we tell, and who gets to tell them, matter.
She came to storytelling by way of service. A campus activist during her undergraduate years at William & Mary, Rousseau enlisted in the U.S. Army and deployed to Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division as a combat photographer and public affairs specialist, documenting the war from the inside. Home from deployment, she turned that documentary instinct into journalism at the J-School, where she served as the graduate student assistant for the Investigative Reporting Program under Lowell Bergman, earned a Carnegie Fellowship with the ABC News Brian Ross Investigative Unit, and worked as an associate producer for PBS Frontline. Her master’s thesis, on the sexual assault of female farmworkers in America, became the Frontline documentary “Rape in the Fields,” which won the Alfred I. duPont–Columbia Award, the John F. Kennedy Journalism Award, and the Public Radio News Directors Award, and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism.
But journalism could only take those stories so far. Convinced that film and television could reach hearts the way headlines never could, Rousseau brought her reporter’s rigor to the entertainment industry. Today she is an award-winning actor whose voice can be heard in some of the world’s biggest video games and animated series, and a screenwriter – a WGA Foundation Veterans Writing Fellow and Stowe Story Labs alum – whose features, adaptations, and original series put underrepresented voices at the center of the frame.
The activist never left. Rousseau serves as Media Affairs Director for the National Association of Voice Actors, former vice president of the nonprofit voice-actor academy QueerVox, on multiple SAG-AFTRA committees, and on the National Parks Conservation Association’s Veterans Advisory Council. She consults for Diving With a Purpose’s CARES coral restoration program, producing underwater photography and 3D reef models, and delivers political commentary across all social media platforms as The Rogue Voice.
