Kevin Fixler
Kevin Fixler is an investigative reporter in Boise, and worked at the Idaho Statesman newspaper since June 2021. The Idaho Press Club named him Idaho Print Reporter of the Year for 2022, including for coverage that scrutinized the state prison system and execution process, and closely followed the University of Idaho student homicides.
Before that, Kevin worked at The Press Democrat in Santa Rosa, reporting on city government, transportation and a series of historic wildfires that impacted the region. He grew up outside of Denver, Colorado, and has previously published stories with The Atlantic, The Guardian and The Daily Beast, among others. He got his start in newspapers at the Summit Daily News covering the environment and public lands in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Kevin is a 2012 graduate of UC, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism and earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism and history from the University of Denver in 2006. Catch him on the nearest hiking trail whenever possible.
