Karl Totland

I am a longform writer and photojournalist from Norway. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Communication Arts at Pace University, Pleasantville, in New York, where I focused on film production and theory, and journalism.

My passions lie in the underwater world, ocean and wildlife conservation, arts and entertainment, religion and politics, photography and cinema, and traveling.

I have international work experience from countries like Norway, Thailand, South Africa, Mozambique, and the US, and I am fluent in Norwegian and Swedish, as well as English.

I wrote about the marine wildlife migration known as the ‘Sardine Run’ for SUBMERGE Magazine, and placed in the top three “Best Articles of the Last Seven Years” for the magazine’s 7th Anniversary Issue. I have written profiles on police chaplains and marijuana entrepreneurs, I have written about homicide statistics, elections, police patrols, military suicide, etc.

I worked as the Opinion Editor for the award-winning The Pace Chronicle newspaper at Pace University, and I have contributed six years in a row to one of Europe’s biggest arts and theater festivals as a translator and computer technician.

My varied work background and international experiences gives me a solid platform for working in many different scenarios and environments.
