Idris Muktar Ibrahim
Idris is a first-year Documentary student at U.C. Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Previous to this, Idris worked as a junior Correspondent for Deutsche Welle and for CNN International as a Freelance field producer working in Eaastern and South Africa.
For CNN, he’s reported on some of Africa’s most significant and talked-about stories including the 2015 President Barack Obama’s visit to Kenya, Pope Francis’s first visit to Africa. In 2019 Idris was the lead producer for CNN coverage on the Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 which crashed killing all 157 people on board. He’s worked with international correspondents including Jim Acosta, David Mckenzie, Nima Elbaghir, Sam Kyle, and Robyn Kriel.
Idris has produced and reported on numerous investigative, human interest, and feature projects for all of CNN’s platforms, including investigating the fake refugees stealing resettlement slots of genuine refugees.
At Berkeley, he is looking to build upon his years of field experience in journalism and improve his skills in Investigative reporting and filmmaking.
