Eric Bellman
Eric Bellman has more than 20 years working as a journalist, covering business beats and managing teams in Tokyo, Osaka, Mumbai, Manila, Jakarta and New Delhi. He has worked most of his career for The Wall Street Journal but also worked for Bloomberg, NHK, Kyodo and others.
He is currently tech editor in The Wall Street Journal’s San Francisco bureau, managing a team that covers AI, e-commerce and the gig economy as well as tech diplomacy and defense tech.
He has won multiple awards and covered tsunamis and terrorist attacks but has spent most of his career and effort on the Asian tech, corporate and macroeconomic stories that are changing the world.
He studied at the University of Washington and Johns Hopkins. He is fluent in Japanese, he speaks Italian badly and knows enough Hindi, Bahasa and Tagalog to know when people are insulting him.
