Dave Gilson is a senior editor at Mother Jones, where he has worked since 2003. He has edited a wide variety of articles, from breaking news and front-of-the book pieces to investigative features and cover stories, including Shane Bauer’s National Magazine Award-winning account of working as a private prison guard. He also wrangles data and charts and reports and writes on a range of topics. His investigation into a 50-year-old murder case involving an NRA lawyer received SPJ NorCal’s James Madison Freedom of Information Award. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, Atlas Obscura, Salon, Frontline/World, The East Bay Express, Marketplace, and The California Report.
