Ashley DelCastillo
Ashley DelCastillo (she/her) is a print journalist based in Martinez, California. She is interested in reporting on science and medicine, women’s rights and health, environmental concerns, mental health, and finances and business.
Prior to pursuing a career in journalism, DelCastillo enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. During her enlistment, she virtually completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida where she gained experience with research methods and writing academically. After graduation and her honorable discharge at the end of her contract, she worked a remote job at HubSpot, allowing her to move to California in hopes of attending UC Berkeley’s school of journalism.
While studying at UC Berkeley, DelCastillo hopes to expand her writing abilities, strengthen her people skills, and further develop her research methods. After graduation, she hopes to be a daily and breaking news print journalist for a local media outlet.
