Robin Shulman: Pulitzer Center

Please join us for a special presentation from Robin Shulman (MJ ’02) about her work reporting on Syrian refugees from Toronto for the Washington Post Magazine, and from Des Moines for TIME Magazine.

Robin Shulman is a freelance journalist based in New York City. She has reported on immigration, education, food, the environment, poverty, urban policy, and other issues in U.S. cities, the Middle East, and other parts of the world. She is most drawn to stories about the resourceful ways people solve and transcend problems.

Her work has appeared on WNYC/New York Public Radio, and in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Guardian and other publications. Her book, Eat the City, traces the history of seven different basic foods produced in New York City”Ómeat, fish, vegetables, wine, beer, honey, and sugar”Óand shows how food production shaped the cities we know today.

She has a B.A. from Columbia University, and Master’s degrees in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley and Near Eastern Studies from New York University.
