Waters is the force behind Chez Panisse and arguably the creator of California cuisine–that is, cooking with local, fresh, and organic ingredients. She has also been a staunch advocate for healthy food in schools, and helped start the Edible Schoolyard in Berkeley. This non-profit program teaches kids about healthy eating by way of gardening.
