Film Screening: ‘The Human Experiment’

‘The Human Experiment’ is a documentary from Oscar-winner Sean Penn and Emmy-award winning journalists Dana Nachman and Don Hardy.

The screening will be followed by an audience Q&A with the filmmakers and a panel of experts, including Mark Schapiro and BCGC’s own Marty Mulvihill.

Film summary:

There are thousands of chemicals in use today whose effects on human health are not well known. This documentary tells the stories of people who believe their health has been compromised by chemical exposure, and delves into the conflict between the chemical industry and environmental health advocates as they clash over what chemicals should be allowed in the products we use, and how they should be tested.

Fifty-three years after Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, the consequences of industrial chemicals for human health and ecosystems are still unfolding. This movie hopes to capture where we are today: what we know, what we don’t, and what can be done to ensure the design and adoption of safer consumer chemicals.

Light refreshments will be available prior to the screening.
