Asia Colloquium: Filming India’s Uncovered Stories

Screening of “The Red Corridor” and discussion with filmmaker C Vanaja.
Described as the biggest internal threat to the country by India’s Prime Minister, the Naxalite movement has spread over 16 out of 28 states. From a May 1967 claim by tribals to land in Naxalbari, West Bengal, the movement has become an armed guerrilla struggle. More than 10,000 cadres and sympathizers have been killed by security forces, and an equal number of police, paramilitary and others have lost their lives.
