1967: Israel’s Longest Year

Tom Segev is one of Israel’s best-known journalists, and the author of three now-classic works on the history of Israel. His new book, 1967: Israel, the War, and the Year that Transformed the Middle East Ì¢‰â‰” a number-one bestseller in Israel Ì¢‰â‰” is being published in English this spring. In 1967, Segev masterfully reconstructs the crises that led to the Six Day War and how it has reshaped the country and region.

In 2002, alumna Helen Diller and her family took a visionary step to help ensure the future excellence of Jewish studies at UC Berkeley. Through a generous endowment, the Helen Diller Family Program in Jewish Studies supports a multi-disciplinary visiting Israeli scholars program administered by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies within International and Area Studies and a graduate fellowship and research grant program administered by Jewish Studies with the College of Letters and Science.
