J298 Telling Stories on Air
In this class, we’ll read, watch, and listen to great stories — and take them apart to see how they’re built and what makes them work. We’ll talk about the reporting techniques that feed a great narrative arc, from clips and spots to books and films; how to develop your own voice and truthfully convey someone else’s; and how the best journalism depends on great storytelling — and the best stories are based in great journalism. We’ll learn from some of the best, make our own narratives, and workshop projects from other classes.
