J298 – Alternative Video

J298 serves as Video Reporting and Storytelling across platforms. Students gain proficiency in reporting, writing, producing, and digital shooting and editing. It is a production course where students report and produce news and news feature stories. In the second half of the semester, students produce longer form video stories. Original content and storytelling approaches are encouraged throughout. This course is intended to further knowledge in visual journalism gained from the prerequisite course J282. Additionally, the course is paced slower than J283 and is intended to cover the same topics, with a less rigorous workload. Students can expect to crew on peer pitched stories and produced 3-5 pieces throughout the semester.
