J298 San Quentin Editing
Course Description:Students taking this course will primarily be engaged in editing and publishing The San Quentin News, a monthly newspaper produced by inmates at San Quentin State Prison. Students will also collaborate with the entertainment publication “Variety,” and will work to raise funds in order to make publication of the newspaper sustainable. Students are expected to visit the San Quentin prison at least once per week.Students are required to visit the prison weekly and spend at least 90 minutes inside the San Quentin News newsroom. No scheduled meets of the class take place at North Gate Hall. The class meets as a group periodically in the term at a time TBD.
