J207 Research Methods

Class runs from Sept 4 to Oct 16.

This is a course for first-year students that will cover research techniques that can be applied in their JOURN 200 Intro to Reporting class. The ultimate goal of this class is to teach students how to be discerning skeptical journalists who are relentlessly dedicated to accuracy, habitually corroborate information, and seek truth even when it disappoints. The persistent emphasis on accuracy in this course will help students to bulletproof their work, and build a sense of authority behind their journalism. All of the tools shown in this class are designed to create a sense of depth, credibility, and accountability, and to prove—by evidentiary standards—the information that sources provide during interviews is accurate.
