El Equipo: Screening and panel on the Argentine Forensic Team’s crusade to unearth the forcibly disappeared

An unlikely collaboration between a forensic scientist from Texas and a group of Latin American students changes the course of forensic science and international human rights.

“El Equipo” (The Team) tells the story of how Dr. Clyde Snow, a legendary forensic scientist from Texas, and Eric Stover, a human rights investigator and Faculty Director of the Human Rights Center who worked alongside Snow for decades, brought together a group of Argentine university students who would become the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team. The team would go on to train hundreds of investigators around the world, and brought answers to families seeking the truth of what happened to their loved ones at home and abroad.

The panel event features one of the Argentine Forensic Team’s original co-founders, forensic anthropologist Mimi Doretti, and film director Bernardo Ruiz and will be moderated by Berkeley Journalism’s Andrés Cediel, a documentary filmmaker who has also reported on communities impacted by forced disappearances.
