Bella Arnold

Bella Arnold is a second-year audio student with a background in magazine writing. She loves to tell whimsical stories about people from marginalized communities experiencing joy and prosperity, as well as report on the literary community and internet culture.

In May 2022, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Long Beach with her B.A. in journalism with a minor in English: creative writing.

She interned for Vulture over the summer and wrote news stories about topics like the actor’s and writer’s strikes. In the past, she also worked as a data reporter for the California Reporting Project. Her work investigating police use-of-force has appeared in LAist, KVCR, and Mercury News. She was also the editor-in-chief of DIG Magazine, which won first place for best print magazine at the CCMA awards during her tenure. Additionally, she was a staff writer and desk editor at DIG MAG and The Daily Forty-Niner, as well as an award-winning radio journalist for 22 West Media. During undergrad, she also was a member of EdSource’s student journalism corps.

At UC Berkeley, she is the chair of Women in Media and co-chair of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In 2023, she was recognized as a Radio Television Digital News Association scholarship recipient.
