Steve Katz, an experienced development professional and executive leader, joined
Berkeley Journalism in the spring of 2022. Over his career, Steve has worked with leading organizations in community housing, theater, environmental advocacy, and since 2003, journalism. Throughout, his work has focused on building nonprofit organizations driven by compelling purpose, strong leadership, and the resources to get the job done.
With expertise in philanthropy, management, change management, and organizational strategy, Steve has built a reputation for his skills in building strong boards, fundraising, and strategic communication. Steve serves as a mentor and coach to nonprofit news executives and development leaders, combining his deep understanding of the media landscape with proven fundraising and leadership development capabilities to support organizations in creating long-term sustainability and impact.
