Amy Rowland spent more than a decade at The New York Times, where she worked, most recently, as an editor at the Book Review. She has published both fiction and nonfiction. Her novel, The Transcriptionist, about a newspaper amanuensis, won the Addison M. Metcalf Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She has received fellowships and residencies from The National Endowment for the Arts, the MacDowell Colony, the Norman Mailer Center and the Sewanee Writers Conference. She has taught at Princeton University and at The School of The New York Times.
