Haley Gray
I’m an associate producer at The Science of Happiness, a podcast by PRX and UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center that’s reached more than 20 million downloads and been featured by the New York Times, Apple Podcasts, and Oprah magazine. I’m also a Bay Area-based freelance journalist. My work has aired on KQED and KALW and appeared in outlets like 5280, The Albuquerque Journal, Roads & Kingdoms, and more.
I’m a generalist. I’ve stitched together audio stories on how COVID-19 has impacted the Census in low-income communities, teenage social life under lockdown, and the music-rich experience of Oakland Roots soccer games, to name a few. Lately, I’ve been following stories that start with food. My capstone project is a 30-40 audio documentary about za’atar and the Palestinian diaspora. Before finding my love for audio, my written work has spanned breaking news, elections coverage and analysis, the arts, and long-form features. Find a portfolio here.
I started a cooking blog to occupy myself in lockdown. For below-average food photography and above-average enthusiasm, look no further.
