Meiying Wu
Meiying is a visual journalist fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkien. As a student at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, she aims to amplify marginalized voices and produce stories about communities often hidden from the mainstream news narrative.
She has produced work for the San Francisco Chronicle and the Idaho Statesman. Previously, she was with Great Big Story for the Genesis Student Film Fellowship, where she produced A Family of Marionette Makers.
Meiying’s video story following a deaf community in India struggling to receive education resources won UC Berkeley’s Jonathan Kaminsky Memorial Award. She is a Nikon Storytellers Scholarship recipient. See more of Meiying’s work at http://meiyingwuphoto.com
