Melissa Nix is a multimedia journalist who has reported around the world and has co-produced a number of award-winning documentaries and television magazine pieces.

She has written about the impact of the U.S. military presence in South Korea, organized documentary shoots in Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia and, most recently, worked as a consultant on a documentary for the French public television station, France 2.

In addition, Melissa has covered public education and policy on the east and west coasts, reported on both the California and Virginia National Guard’s efforts in Iraq and Mexico and written travel and cultural stories for the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan’s largest circulating daily.

In 2004 and 2005, Melissa was awarded the Goldman Award for Excellence in International Reporting. In 2002, she shared a New York Emmy for cultural programming with her colleagues at Two Cats Productions.

Melissa grew up overseas, with stints in Asia and Europe. She has resided in Germany, Belgium, Rome, Tokyo and Seoul.

Melissa graduated from Seoul American High School in South Korea and has a bachelors of art in film from Bard College and a masters of journalism from UC Berkeley.

She now resides in Washington D.C.
