The Internet has been a boon for some types of storytelling and a bust for others. This panel of E-editors will discuss how narrative journalism fits into the mix. Is there a place for long form writing on the screen as well as the page?

Our panelists will include editors Gerry Marzorati, Mark Bryant and Evan Ratliff:

Gerald Marzorati was the editor of The New York Times Magazine from 2003 to 2010. He is currently an Assistant Managing Editor of New Products and Strategies for The Times.  He the author of the book A Painter of Darkness.

Mark Bryant is the editorial director and co-founder of Byliner Inc., which in its first year has published bestselling e-books by Jon Krakauer, Taylor Branch, Ann Patchett, Amy Tan, William Vollmann, and Margaret Atwood, among others. In February 2012, Fast Company named Byliner one of the world’s ten most innovative media companies.

Evan Ratliff is the founder and editor of The Atavist, a digital publisher of longform narrative journalism and producer of software tools for storytelling. His writing also appears in Wired, where he is a contributing editor, The New Yorker, National Geographic, and many other publications. On the side, Evan serves as the story editor for Pop-Up Magazine, a live event.
