Tim Weiner, a reporter for The New York Times, is the author of “Legacy of Ashes: The History of The CIA,” which recently won the National Book Award for non-fiction. He covered the CIA for The Times as a Washington
correspondent from 1993 to 2000. As a foreign correspondent, he has
traveled to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Liberia, Cuba, Haiti, and many
other nations. He previously worked at the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he won the Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of national-security programs in 1988.
