This course will teach you the skills, resources and institutional context for covering politics in California and elsewhere. You will build your basic journalistic techniques and immerse yourself in the political culture of California. We will focus on the basic elements of coverage – how are campaigns organized, financed and operated. You will learn how to read polls and campaign finance reports and write stories based on the information.
