About Lisette Mejia

A Los Angeles native, Lisette graduated from UCLA in ‘09 with a degree in Communication Studies, mass media emphasis.
She always knew she wanted to write, but it wasn't until her first internship at a small women's website that she decided to pursue a career in journalism. Since then, she's interned at various outlets, including the Los Angeles Times' Metromix and Rodale International.
Lisette spent the year before grad school as a writer and web producer at TravelAge West, a Los Angeles-based travel magazine. She's currently an assistant editor at Mission Loc@l, a
news site covering San Francisco's Mission District.
Although her background lies in print journalism, she has enjoyed picking up the camera to pursue a degree in multimedia storytelling.
Outside the workroom, Lisette's been scouring the Mission in search of the city's best burrito, believes in the power of a strong handshake, can't get enough of her two nieces and is slowly making her rounds across the globe.
