Most of us give our loved ones who’ve passed away over to an entire industry that has sprung up to take care of the tasks we don’t want to deal with: preparing a body for burial, holding services to commemorate life, and the final internment. But there is a growing movement to take death rites out of the funeral homes (and houses of worship) and bring them back into the living room.

“Death Comes Home” is an intimate emotional portrait of three families caring for the dead in their own homes: washing and dressing the bodies of their loved ones, building coffins, digging graves, and keeping their loved ones closer to home.
