Richard Gingras
Richard Gingras is chair of the board at Village Media, whose “community impact platforms” and local newsrooms seek to strengthen the communities they serve. He is also a founder and board member of the Center for News, Technology, and Innovation, a think-and-do tank for the role of journalism in modern societies. Gingras served for more than a decade as global vice president of news at Google focusing on how news was presented on Google’s consumer services and on Google’s efforts to enable a healthy, open ecosystem for quality journalism. He serves on the boards and advisory councils of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, the International Center for Journalists, the First Amendment Coalition, the James W Foley Legacy Foundation, the UC Berkeley School of Journalism, PRX, the public radio exchange, and the Frontline documentary series.
